The search giant has picked up Motorola Mobility for a reported $12.5 billion in cash. Could Google have saved money with a two-year contract?
In their announcement, Google promises the acquisition will "Supercharge Android, Enhance Competition, and Offer Wonderful User Experiences". The web is already abuzz with news and speculation, of course. As a fan of both companies, I can only hope this turns out to be a great thing for the ongoing openness and development of the Android platform. Time will tell ...
